Chicago/Miami Bums Rejoice!

BK dropping money from the sky.

If you live anywhere near Chicago or Miami, watch where your walking.  Burger King has launched a fall viral campaign that involves leaving over 5,000 wallets on the streets or at hot-spots.  The wallets containing actual money (ranging from $1 to $100) and BK gift-cards (ranging from $5-$20), are an attempt to lead visitors to local stores and get people talking.

In addition to the cash the faux leather wallet also comes along with business cards from ‘the king’, local burger king location maps, and a fake drivers license for “the king”.  GE Finanial did a similar promotion back in 2000 with a similar campaign that made 1 in 5 lost wallets found a winner.

Great strategy, good timing, and proving yet again going viral works!  BK must’ve learned something from their subservient chicken campaign. Chicken Mask Really?!?! Click here for the .PDF file, did the really expect people to wear this thing?

interesting stuff nonetheless, thanks to ted.me for the photos!

ONE DAY AS A LION is
Zack de la Rocha (vocals/keys)
Jon Theodore (drums)

One Day as a Lion and ANTI- announced a release date for the long awaited self-titled EP from former rage against the machine front man Zack de la Rocha yesterday.  This means if you are one of those people who still buy their music at the brick and mortar, indie shop not big box I hope… then tell them to order this so you can have it in your hands by July 22 (worldwide release date).  This summer you can catch Zach de la Rocha at Lollapalooza (Grant Park, Chicago IL) playing on one of the last few dates with RATM in a few weeks, which I think is well worth skipping work for!  Some things only come around once people, so live life unrestricted and you might end up happier.

ANTI records: now streaming one song from the 5-track EP, if you are anything like me you’ll love every second of it… besides the ‘being on myspace’ part.  Click here to hear the hooplah.

ALL THE WORLDS A GALLERY: turning thoughts into action

There’s actually a lot happening in Detroit.. besides the city’s efforts to rebuild the economy, there’s been a strong surge in detroits industrial areas from artists working to preserve art, and bring artists together. The canvas we’re given in detroit is historically meant for art; what’s left to do with an old abandoned industrial building besides make it beautiful again. The overpasses and fences, blank billboards, abanoned cars, abandoned buildings, the empty lots, unused storefronts, makeshift signs, cracked sidewalks… all canvases just screaming one message that nobody has heard. Our city is just waiting to be renewed and if our taxes aren’t enough to cover the damages on these properties then we must SPEAK UP and ACT OUT. Let me also say this: I do not condone ANY form of vandalism or destruction of property. That is not the intention, what drives me is the idea of bringing a new aethetic to a corner or a community in the tradition of public art, this is something meant to inspire and send a positive messages.
